About Us
Under the leadership of partners Lucas Giannetti and Kim Stager, Hinterland Tahoe creates custom homes and third spaces that respond to Tahoe’s climate and ecology through thoughtful design, a deep understanding of building science, and meticulous craftsmanship.
Lucas Giannetti
Founder, President
Lucas founded Hinterland Tahoe out of a conviction that building well and building responsibly are the same thing. A licensed General Contractor in California and PHIUS-certified builder, he oversees business operations and project delivery, bringing the same attention to detail to running the company as he does to the work itself.
His approach to building was shaped early. Summers spent in Germany with his grandmother gave him a firsthand appreciation for European construction — its durability, its simplicity, and its quiet resistance to obsolescence. Those principles drew him to the Tahoe region and to high-performance building, and they inform how Hinterland approaches every project in the demanding environment of the mountain West.
Kim Stager
Design Director
Kim is a designer working in Lake Tahoe and New York City. She works in the high-end interiors and materials industry on the east coast and is expanding her vision out west. She has a discerning eye and an empathic approach to design, informed by a technical background in graphic design and art direction.
Educated at RIT, the Vignelli Center for Design Studies is a hub of research and creative inspiration honoring the legacy of multidisciplinary designers LeIla and Massimo Vignelli. Kim's approach to interior design is deeply inspired by Vignelli’s timeless sensibility—where clarity and simplicity guide every decision. It's about creating spaces that are intentional, harmonious, and enduring. She creates environments that honor the beautiful environment they are built in and elevate everyday living.
